Houston, Texas Senior Portraits Photographer - Kayla

Senior pics are some of my favorite pics to do.  The kids are usually nervous, but excited, and they really want to look their best.  I always try my darnest to make sure they do.  It's funny how it's always the same pattern: we meet, we're both nervous, we start off slowly, build a trust, then establish a rapport, and by the end, we're cooking with fire.

With Kayla, it was no different.  Even though I know her mom, we had never met.  I took a couple of shots, expecting them to be throw-aways since the first 5-10 usually are, but no way could I delete them, she came out natural and gorgeous right off the bat!

We used several different locations in downtown Houston, but the focus was always squarely on Kayla. She has a beautiful smile that lights up the frame, and no matter how I asked her to pose, she was always willing to try.  She has a definite future in modeling if she decides to pursue it!

Here are a couple more shots of her session, and go to my website and click on the FEATURED gallery to see the rest of the session!

Houston, Texas Children's Portrait Photographer - Jadyn

Jadyn is a cute little 4 year old who for the 1st 30 minutes wouldn't let me take her picture, but after she warmed up to me, she had a great time, and at the end was actually directing me!  The shoot took place in a couple of nice spots in League City, and she happens to be Kenny's niece, whose senior pics I took last year and which I shall blog later on.

Here are some of my favorite from that session

Isn't she cute?  She's adorable, and after all that hard work, we both enjoyed a Cherry Limeade from Sonic, her favorite.

Houston, Texas Senior Portraits Photographer - Michael

One of my best friends has a son who is graduating next month.  I've known this boy his whole life.  I can't believe he's 18 and finishing high school.  Where did the time go?  I feel the same as when he was born, but I look in the mirror and see that I'm not.  Less hair on top and more filling around the middle, some wrinkles on my face and quicker to get annoyed at loud music tell me that yes, I am old.  Oh well, I might be older, but I'm also better, at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Enough about me, let's look at some pics.

I remember the first time I took "real" pictures of Mikey.  He wouldn't smile at all, and when he did, it looked like it hurt.  5 years later, and look at him now.  A young man, full of confidence and potential, a kid who works hard and gives of himself selflessly.  I am really proud of him and I know that he will succeed in whatever he chooses to devote his life to.

Good looking kid, huh? Go to my Facebook Fan Page to see more and click on LIKE if you haven't already.  Thanks!

Houston, Texas Model Photographer - Monica

Recently I did a session for Monica, who is getting back into modeling.  She has ample modeling experience, but she had been out of the business for a while, so she needed some new shots for a modeling agency to look at and decide whether to hire her and to use for her portfolio and publicity card.  She was gracious enough to give me the opportunity, and I can't thank her enough for that.

Our first location was the Williams Tower (formerly the Transco Tower) Waterwall Park.  This is a special place for me.  When Libby and I first got together, a looooong time ago, we would go there to enjoy the waterwall, read a book, have a picnic, people watch, or a combination of all of them.  We didn't have a lot of spending money, so that was something we could do that didn't cost a lot.  I really love it there.

We shot on a Saturday and were blessed to have good weather.  It was in the 60's and partly cloudy, where as the weekend before, we had an ice storm that paralyzed the city and had been in the 30's and 40's up until Wednesday.  And it's usually full of people taking pictures and walking their dogs, or just lounging in the grass, but not that day.  We started off with some quick shots, both of us trying hard not to be nervous.  She is so pretty, and I knew that what I did could potentially be the deciding factor in whether or not she got modeling jobs, that I was shaking.  After a while, we both got into a groove, and we got some spectacular shots.  She changed outfits several times, we went across the street behind the condos to the duck pond, and we also got great shots at a really swanky restaurant in the Galleria.  At the end, we shot at her apartment complex, and no matter what she was wearing or where we were shooting, she always came out gorgeous.

Here are some of my favorites

Do you like them?  I sure do.  I had such a great time, Monica was awesome, and her mom and aunt helped out so much, we couldn't have done it without them.  I hope I get to work with her again, and what I learned that day I know will help me on all my future sessions.  Thanks for stopping by, go visit my website, and let me know what you think about this post and my site.  Thanks!

Houston, Texas Portrait Photographer - Kivette

Kivette is a beautiful woman who is extremely photogenic.  I love taking pictures of her, she always comes out great.  For this session, we tried something a little different; we tried to channel the past, in dress and processing.  We took these shots out in front and on the side of my house.  Goes to show you that you can great pictures anywhere, you just need to use your imagination.  Here are some of my favorite shots from that session.

Libby helped out a lot with this session.  She helped Kivette with her makeup and wardrobe, and of course, lending us one of her old cameras.  We had a such a great time, I can't wait to do it again!

Houston, Texas Family Photographer

I love black and white pictures.  There's something special and pure about them that you don't get from color.  Maybe because it forces you to concentrate on the image itself and not be distracted by the colors of the clothing, hair, makeup, nails, shoes, background, etc.  The following pictures are proof of that.  When you look at everyone's eyes, especially when they're holding the baby, you can  feel the love they all have for each other.  We also took some in the backyard, and I love how in the last one the sun washes over them, bathing them in a soft, beautiful light.  It was kind of cold that day, but the light was magnificent.

I love these pictures, and I hope you all do too.  Go to my website to see more.  Thanks for reading, and leave a comment, I would really love to know what you think, and any advice you can give is greatly appreciated!

Houston, Texas Children's Photographer - Leo & Christian

Hello again!  Long time no write!  Today I wanted to share some of my favorite pics from Leo and Christian's session.  Leo and Christian are brothers, and they are both really cute.  Mom and dad got in on a couple of shots, but the undisputed stars of the show were the boys.

We went to the zoo the day before Halloween.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but it started off great because they had a pumpkin patch with free pumpkins for all the kids.  Then we walked around the zoo, and we got some great shots without really trying, they all came about by just letting Leo enjoy the zoo.  After a couple of posed family shots, we went out to the park.  Christian fell asleep, but we got some great shots of him anyway.

Here are some of my favorites

Thanks to Lenny and Denise for allowing me to capture some special moments of their boys.  I love them all dearly and I hope we get together again soon!  Go to my website to see more pictures!
